How Many Coco Peat Blocks Fit in a 40 ft Container?
Bulk floor loading fits about 5,200 coco peat 5 kg blocks in a 40 ft HC; palletised about 4,620. Here's how to choose.

Container planning is where a coco peat 5 kg block order turns into landed cost. Because compressed coco peat is dense, a 40 ft high-cube (HC) container is usually the most economical unit for importers.
Bulk floor loading: about 5,200 blocks
Blocks are stacked by hand directly on the container floor. A 40 ft HC takes roughly 5,200 blocks, about 26 metric tonnes. This gives the lowest freight cost per tonne, but unloading is manual.
Palletised bundle packing: about 4,620 blocks
Blocks are bundled, shrink-wrapped and loaded on pallets. Capacity falls to roughly 4,620 blocks, about 23 metric tonnes, but a forklift can unload the container in a fraction of the time.
Which should you choose?
- Warehouse with labour and no forklift dock → bulk.
- Distribution centre, high labour cost, or blocks going straight to customers on pallets → palletised.
- Check your destination's payload limits for road haulage from port.
